Mid-Century Modern Landscape Painting by Gideon Issakson

£450.00

A lovely, sketchy oil painting of the Southern Swedish coastline by Gideon Issakson. The work somehow captures the warmth and haze of a balmy summer evening. The piece came to me unframed, and I love the organic and rustic feel of the painting as is. Signed and dated 1946.

Sven Gideon Isaksson (1922-1980) studied at the Scanian School of Painting in Malmö, 1935-1936 and under Kræsten Iversen at the Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, as well as during study trips to Italy, France and Spain. Separately, he exhibited several times in Trelleborg and together with Lennart Rosensohn and Eric Cederberg in Landskrona in 1956. He took part in group exhibitions with Skåne's art association.

Frame dimensions: 66cm x 55cm.
