Vintage Swedish Still Life by Henning Malmström
A glorious and very bold still life with confident brush strokes and bold colours. This lovely work is mounted within a deep, cream coloured, scooped solid wooden frame with brass bezel edging. Signed and dated '15 so presumably painted in the artist's youth at the age of 25!
Henning Malmström was born in 1890 in Malmö and died in 1968. He studied in Copenhagen, Germany, Italy and England. He has produced several notable portraits, as well as flamboyant floral still lifes, usually in pastel. A floral still life of his as well as a portrait of Bo Bergman are held at the Modern Museum in Stockholm.
