A vibrant and powerful abstract landscape by Bertil Andersson with deep impasto paintwork reminiscent to me of the early work of David Bomberg and also of Frank Auerbach. Signer 'BA" and in an original frame dating from the late 1950s early 1960s.
Bertil Einar Andersson (1921 - 1969) was a Swedish artist who was mainly self-taught and conducted self-studies during trips to France and Belgium. He participated in a large number of collective exhibitions, among others with Helsingborg's Art Association and Skåne's Art Association, and he was represented in the National Museum's exhibition Unga Tengnare 1946-1948. His art consists of figure paintings and abstract landscapes often with coastal images from southern Halland and Skåne counties in oil or pastel. Andersson is represented at, among others, the National Museum in Stockholm.
Image dimensions approx. 22 x 50 cm.
